Singapore Garden Festival
16-25 December 2006

Singapore’s first International garden and flower show welcomes the World to the Premier Garden City on the Equator. Singapore has established a hard-won reputation as the premier Garden City of the Tropics. More than four decades of consistent and concerted effort in planning and establishing the city’s lush plantings and network of tree-lined streets, well-situated parks and tropical gardens has resulted in a global city that is ideal for hosting the first international garden and flower show on the equator. The geographic position of Singapore makes the Singapore Garden Festival the perfect marketplace to showcase the products and services of the horticultural industry from both northern and southern hemispheres as well as those of Asian and New World nations.

We invite the world to the
Singapore Garden Festival.

The Singapore Garden Festival will be a biennial event and is positioned to take its place amongst the top flower and garden shows on the international calendar. Unique to the Festival is the showcasing of the creations of top international award-winning landscape and garden designers, florists and horticulturists specially invited to the Festival. These professionals and garden enthusiasts will work alongside Singapore’s own talented residents to create outstanding displays and activities to please the eye and delight the senses.

This floral fiesta of beauty and exciting cultural events is anticipated to attract more than 200,000 visitors, as well as introducing visitors from around the world to our city of perpetual summer.

The Event
The Singapore Garden Festival is a ten-day event and is envisioned to be the top flower and garden show in the Tropics. The Singapore Garden Festival is designed to capture the imagination and interest of the man in the street, the serious gardener and visitors of all ages.

Five focus areas are planned for the event:

1. “Best of Show” Designer Gardens – Level 6
The event will be unique in that for the first time in the world, we will be gathering international and local award-winning landscape designers to create stunning garden displays.

The gardens will be judged by an international panel of judges. An overall winner will be awarded the prestigious award - the Trophy for the Grand Champion Garden Display.

2. Floral Windows to the World – Level 6
Stunning arrangements of flowers and foliage will showcase the skill and artistry of floral designers from home and abroad.

The floral displays will be judged by an international panel of judges and an overall winner will be awarded the prestigious award - the Trophy for the Grand Champion Floral Display.

3. Orchid Extravaganza – Level 4
The most important plant group in the international floriculture trade, the orchids, will be emphasized through number of exhibits and the sheer varieties of shape, colour and form represented.

4. Vibrant Marketplace – Level 4
The widest array under one roof in Singapore of plants, gardening products, equipment and tools, garden enhancing furnishings, arts and craft, and garden-related lifestyle products will be presented for sale to the visitors of the Festival.

5. Garden Fiesta – Level 4

The relevance of the product/service/display to the event.
The impact of your display.
The likely educational value of the product, service or display.
The degree to which the display can be presented so as to enhance the Show’s presentation.

  Competitions at the Show

Show Garden Design Awards – Level 6
All exhibits featuring a landscape designed and constructed garden will be classified as a “Show Garden” and judged under the Show Garden Criteria.

By definition, a Show Garden will be a display that represents a landscape garden and relies on design principals and planting concepts. Such core principles can be complemented by the addition of flair and “theatre” in the garden display.

Floral Feature Design Awards – Level 6
All floral displays as designated will compete in this category with the judges looking for flair, creativity and innovation.

Winning an award at the Show is highly prestigious and is of great value to an exhibitor. The award is a lasting recognition of quality, which reaches a far wider audience than just the visitors attending the Show.
